The Well-Being at Home service provides a regular volunteer visitor for people over the age of 50, who live alone and are unable to leave their home without assistance.
The aim is to help relieve social isolation, bring friendship and company by a befriender volunteer visiting on a weekly basis for a chat and cup of tea, maybe play a board game or go for a walk.
They do not carry out personal care or household chores.
The service covers Ashford urban and rural north, we work closely with our colleagues at CARM (Caring Altogether on Romney Marsh) and Shepway Volunteer Centre who also operate a Befriending Service.
Our volunteers have a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check and are given an induction and on-going support by a paid service Co-ordinator.
Due to funding restrictions we are unable to recruit either volunteers or service users for this project at the present time.
However, if you are interested in volunteering in this line of work please contact All Things Volunteering on 01233 660421 as there are many similar roles available and they would be happy to discuss these with you.
If you wish to discuss the befriending service please contact:
